Portfolio Sales Manager 


Full Time | Permanent | Head Office Chester |Competitive Salary

Location: Currently all staff are working from home due to current Covid restrictions. However, it is anticipated that Sales will return to be a mix of face-to-face and telephone sales, with some overseas travel.  Office base is Chester but will consider home working.

Role Overview

The Portfolio Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sponsorship/partnership/advertising revenues across our portfolio of specialist products within the industries we serve. The role will involve working with existing clients and generating new business from prospect companies who wish to benefit from exposure of the highly targeted audiences that our portfolio delivers.

From corporate sponsorship for our awards and summits, through to webinars and digital conferencing, the Portfolio Sales Manager will be capable of selling to and then project managing multiple customers through to successful delivery, no matter what the platform (print, digital, or live event).

Competent in building customers perception of value when presenting the portfolio solution. Skilful questioning, rapport building, and an unrelenting conviction that the products we have to offer are ‘the best’, ‘the most effective’, and offer exceptional value. They will have a reputation for being one of the top salespeople within the business. Their success is a result of achieving high level revenue sales through exemplary customer service; empathy, accuracy and proficiency; a talent for influencing and persuading the customer to increase spend levels, improve frequency, combine additional products, and grow their average order value. 

You must have a tenacious, can do approach and a proven track record of exceeding targets. The ability to quickly build rapport with potential and existing clients is vital. The successful candidate will immerse themselves in their sector and act as an ambassador for the brands by promoting the products nationally and internationally, while always holding themselves to the highest standards personally and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Drive event and media revenues across the portfolio.

  • Actively promote and sell opportunities to new and existing clients.

  • Prepare strategic and comprehensive, need-based, campaign proposals.

  • Schedule meetings with prospects

  • Generate a strong continuous pipeline of prospects for multiple products and close business.

  • Oversee delivery of sponsorship packages at live events.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and necessary departments in Rapid News to deliver on client expectations.

  • Forecast and report revenues clearly on a monthly basis.

  • Maintain high levels of outbound prospecting and contacts.

  • Develop new business through effective and planned prospecting.

  • Support promotional strategies aimed at increasing revenue.

  • Effectively analyse and identify client needs and growth opportunities.

  • Gather pertinent detailed client information to support our Operations team

  • Research competitor offerings and react when appropriate

  • Maintain close contact with clients delivering excellent customer service.

  • Attend key exhibitions and meetings in UK and overseas as necessary to develop business opportunities.

 

Essentials

  • Experience in a B2B or B2C event sales role.

  • Highly motivated, self-starter.

  • Documented history of professional and academic over-achievement.

  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to measurably impact results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications/presentation/reporting skills.

  • IT skills - Word, Excel, web research, database packages.

  • First class Powerpoint/Keynote presentation building skills.

  • Team player with ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment. 

  • Impeccable organisation across multiple complex projects.

  • Must be commercially aware.

  • Demonstrable experience of working under pressure.

  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties

  • Education: Degree level or equivalent in Business or Marketing an advantage.

  • Travel: Overnight travel in UK and overseas will be expected in this role.
